Installation Support

The installation process for Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring can vary depending on the specific product and manufacturer's recommendations. However, here is a general overview of the installation steps for both types:

Installation Instructions

  1. Prepare the Subfloor: Ensure that the subfloor is clean, level, dry, and free of any debris. Repair any imperfections or unevenness in the subfloor.

  2. Acclimate the Flooring: Allow the LVP or LVT planks/tiles to acclimate to the room's temperature and humidity levels for at least 48 hours before installation. This helps prevent expansion or contraction after installation.

  3. Plan the Layout: Determine the layout of the flooring, considering factors like the direction of the planks/tiles, pattern, and any obstacles in the room.

  4. Install Underlayment (optional): Depending on the type of subfloor and the specific product requirements, you may need to install an underlayment to provide additional cushioning, moisture protection, or sound insulation.

  5. Begin Installation: Start laying the planks/tiles in one corner of the room, following the predetermined layout. Leave a small gap (usually around 1/4 inch) between the edges of the flooring and the walls to allow for expansion.

  6. Interlock Planks/Tiles: For click-and-lock LVP/LVT, interlock the planks/tiles by angling them into place and clicking the tongue and groove edges together. For glue-down installations, apply adhesive to the subfloor according to the manufacturer's instructions and press the planks/tiles firmly into place.

  7. Cut Planks/Tiles: Use a utility knife, handsaw, or power saw to cut planks/tiles to fit around obstacles, corners, and edges of the room.

  8. Continue Installation: Work row by row, continuing to install planks/tiles until you reach the opposite wall. Use spacers to maintain consistent expansion gaps along the walls.

  9. Complete Installation: Once all planks/tiles are installed, remove spacers and install trim or molding to cover expansion gaps and provide a finished look.

  10. Allow Time to Set: Allow the flooring to set for at least 24 hours before walking on it or moving furniture back into the room.

It's essential to follow the manufacturer's specific installation instructions and recommendations for the best results and to ensure warranty coverage. Additionally, professional installation may be recommended for complex layouts or for certain types of installations, such as glue-down applications.
